The benefits of our SureSmile technology
While the idea of straightening the teeth in the smile is often a desirable solution to an imperfect dental arch, many patients who visit the team at A & S Dental Wellness Center of Leominster in Leominster, Massachusetts, will often avoid talking about it because of their fear of needing metal brackets and wire braces. Fortunately, with improvements in dental technology, patients can instead use clear orthodontic aligners as an alternative. This treatment is known as SureSmile and is available with Dr. Yijia Li at our practice.
What are SureSmile orthodontic aligners?
The SureSmile orthodontic system is a clear aligner tray treatment. First, our dentist uses 3-D imaging technology to virtually design your smile and show you the results you can achieve. Once you are ready to start treatment, Dr. Yijia Li will send these images to an outside laboratory to create a series of clear trays. Patients will use each tray for about two weeks before progressing to the next, allowing them to reposition the teeth gradually. When the patient reaches the last tray, they will have their final results achieved!
How are SureSmile aligners different from traditional braces?
SureSmile can expand treatment possibilities by allowing movement in three planes: up and down, side-to-side, and front to back. That will enable us to address multiple problems with just one set of aligners. Patients wear these trays for at least 20 hours a day and remove them to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Because the trays are clear, they are hard to notice over the teeth and allow patients to feel confident even throughout their treatment. Also, because the SureSmile aligners are removable, patients can brush and floss as they usually do without worrying about working around brackets and wires covering the smile.
