Complete your smile with Dental Implants, a long-lasting tooth replacement option

Throughout your childhood, losing a tooth was a cause for celebration with the Tooth Fairy involved. Fast-forward to today: losing a tooth as an adult can be stressful because a new one will not grow back! At A & S Dental Wellness Center of Leominster, we understand the physical and psychological effects of a lost tooth. With this in mind, we offer natural-looking dental implants to fill your mouth gap permanently!

Why you shouldn’t ignore a lost tooth

When you have lost a tooth through decay or injury, you may be tempted to ignore the gap, especially if it isn’t conspicuous when talking or smiling. Regrettably, if your lost tooth is left untreated, it’s only a matter of time before you start experiencing oral challenges.

One of the immediate changes is your inability to chew properly and pronounce certain words correctly. After some time, you will start experiencing gradual bone loss, which results in a sunken-in facial appearance. And as if that isn’t enough, teeth neighboring the gap start shifting towards the empty space, leading to bite misalignment. Given the aesthetic and functional challenges of a lost tooth, you should replace it immediately.

Consider dental implants to replace lost teeth

A dental implant is a tooth replacement treatment that takes the place of your natural tooth root. The procedure starts with a consultation with Dr. Yijia Li to determine if you have sufficient jawbone to support an implant. If not, we may recommend bone grafting to improve your bone structure.

Next, we insert a biocompatible implant post in your jawbone. After a few months, the implant will completely fuse with the jawbone through a process known as osseointegration. Once fusion has taken place, we place an abutment above the gum line to support a crown. After about two weeks of healing, we install a crown or bridge to complete the tooth restoration.

The implant procedure may take several months, but the wait is well worth it. The result is a tooth replacement that looks and acts like your natural teeth. Other benefits of dental implants include:

  • Prevents bone loss
  • Can last for life with proper care
  • Requires little maintenance
  • Implants don’t affect the structural integrity of the surrounding teeth
  • Restores your chewing and speech ability
  • Implants restore your self-confidence
